Transit Custom Roof Racks

If you have been thinking about your Ford Transit Custom recently, and you have realized that you need more room, there are a number of options available to you. First, you can upgrade to a bigger van as this would solve all of your problems. However, this is an expensive option and if you would prefer to keep the cost down, then the alternative would be to add ford transit custom roof racks. In this article, we’re going to be looking at these roof racks and providing you with all the information that you need about them. Keep reading if you would like to find out more.

What Are Roof Racks?

Roof racks are strips of material, usually metal, that attach to the top of the roof of a vehicle, in this case, the ford transit custom. They have a number of purposes that we are going to be looking at a little further down, but there are also some things that you’ve got to remember if you are going to purchase one of these. If the top of your van is looking a little bland, these can even just give it that little extra something.

What Is Their Purpose?

But what is the purpose of installing roof racks onto your Ford Transit Custom? Well, they are helpful if you don’t have enough room in your van for everything that you need to transport. When you are working on a job, sometimes there is so much stuff that you think you are going to have to make two trips in order to get all the equipment to the site. However, if you invest in ford transit custom roof racks, this isn’t going to be the case. You can simply tie the extra load onto the roof, secure it down and then be on your way. No more wasting fuel by going backwards and forwards more than necessary.

Essentially then, the purpose of roof racks is to help you carry more. The good thing about roof racks is that they can usually help you to transport a lot more than you might have originally thought. If you have an item that you have been meaning to move but you didn’t because it is too big and too heavy, the roof racks will be able to handle it.

Where Can You Get Them From?

You can purchase Ford Transit Custom roof racks from a number of locations. If you do a quick search on Google for 'ford transit custom roof racks', you are sure to find a whole range of different options & price ranges for your consideration. Make sure that you are filtering them based on what you have decided that you want though. This includes price, metal, and in some cases even the shape.

There are retail stores such as Halfords that sell them too & fit them for you!. If you pop into Halfords, you can even get the opinion of the people who are working there, who likely know more about the roof racks than you do!

Will Any Roof Rack Do?

The simple answer here is no. It’s not going to be possible for you to just go and find the cheapest and easiest roof rack on the market. There are different types that fit different vehicles, and you need one that specifically fits the ford transit custom. Make absolutely sure before you make a purchase that it says it will fit on the roof of your van, otherwise it is simply a waste of money.

How Much Do They Cost?

As with everything else, the cost of roof bars will vary. You are looking at anything as low as £50, all the way up to about £300. Just make sure that the ones that you decide to purchase have good reviews, because the last thing that you want to do is buy the roof racks, only to have them break easily under the weight that you are going to store on them. Like with any purchase, doing your research is critical, even if it doesn’t seem all that important right now.

The reason that the price varies so much for a number of reasons. The material used is one of them, with racks made out of aluminium typically being more expensive than others. Or, if you are going for one of the best named brands in the industry, then of course this is also going to cost you extra. You are paying for the brand name as well as the product when you do this. Finally, if the roof rack has an aerodynamic profile, this is also going to cost you more.

Are They Easy To Fit?

Mostly, Ford Transit Custom roof racks are simple to fit to the van. It will take you a few minutes as soon as you know what you are doing, and it is usually a simple case of screwing it down so that they don’t fly off. You need to make sure that they are completely secure, otherwise you run this risk of losing the bars, and whatever you have tied to them while you are zooming down the street.

If you find things like this tough, or you simply don’t have the time to do it yourself, you can always pay someone to do it for you. There is going to be someone who can install your roof racks for you, and because it is a relatively simple thing to do, it is also going to be pretty cheap. We recommend getting a professional to do it actually, especially if you don’t have much experience with fitting roof racks. At least if you allow someone who knows what they are doing to take care of it, you know that it is secure as it could possibly be.
